Complementary & Comprehensive
Using the MetaCIH platform, you can access and analyze living meta-analytic collections of evidence on meditation-based intervention trials online. Further evidence collections on complementary and integrative health (CIH) interventions will be incorporated over time.
What is MetaCIH?
MetaCIH is a comprehensive platform designed to evaluate and synthesize evidence for complementary and integrative health (CIH) interventions, such as mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. More specific aims include:
-
Centralizing access to a vast collection of randomized controlled trials across diverse CIH interventions.
-
Advancing statistical methods to produce transparent, high-quality meta-analytic results on CIH efficacy.
-
Making complex data accessible to researchers, clinicians, and policymakers.
-
Providing a continuously updated, expert-managed database that ensures access to the latest CIH research.
FAQ
MetaCIH efficiently synthesizes information across populations, interventions, comparisons, and outcomes (PICO). We aim to be inclusive in terms of populations, types of meditation interventions, comparison conditions, and outcomes. In other words, we will only restrict eligibility based on interventions (i.e., meditation-based interventions) and study designs (i.e., RCTs).
MetaCIH primarily addresses researchers and health professionals who want to access and analyze the most recent evidence on CIH interventions. Beyond that, we also aim to foster timely reviews and meta-analyses for key stakeholders including health insurers, policymakers, patients, and providers.
MetaCIH provides open access to curated evidence collections and online meta-analysis tools. You can use the database to identify relevant studies, explore evidence across populations, interventions, comparisons, and outcomes (PICO), and conduct systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Research on complementary and integrative health has grown rapidly over the past several decades. MetaCIH helps researchers and decision-makers efficiently identify, organize, and synthesize this expanding body of evidence.
Yes. MetaCIH is committed to open science and aims to provide a freely accessible resource that promotes transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration.
MetaCIH seeks to advance CIH research by promoting rigorous evidence synthesis, fostering collaboration, supporting researcher training, and making scientific evidence easier to discover and use.
